Water affects our lives as almost no other element can. Not only does the history of evolution have its start in the ocean – but also our organism exists of 70 % water. Water is the fuel of our complete metabolism system, and besides haematopoiesis, it also provides us with the necessary foundation for the degradation of nutrients and their waste products. Last but not least an increased intake of liquids abets any diet!
Furthermore, in the form of perspiration, water also helps to regulate the body temperature. Through evaporation on the skin, the skin surface is able to cool off. To keep these important procedures going, a body needs at least three litres of water daily. However, when there is extra strain such as sport and heat, but also with age, this need increases up to five litres. Therefore, we should not only pay attention to healthy nourishments but also, especially, to a sufficient supply of liquids.
