![]() New bathroom range combines high-end design demands, flexibility and comfort / Eye-catching look by way of contrasting large compact elements with small subtle ones / Extensive furniture programme with extra uses
Ratingen. At the SHK Essen Keramag introduced a rather versatile complete bathroom range meeting high-end design demands both in terms of comfort and usefulness. “Silk” offers besides an elegant and timeless stylistic vocabulary a particularly high level of flexibility in the design of sophisticated bathrooms with ceramic objects and bathroom furniture in the premium category. Special elements with extra uses make this new series also suitable for the requirements of the 50+ generation.
The principle of this sanitary object’s design is based on the tension created between large, compact elements and small, intricate design elements. The centre piece of the series, dictating the series’ shape, is the wash stand range consisting of six products (57, 60, 80, 100 and 120 cm), which enables a vast range of individual design possibilities.
All wash stands are softly rounded and offer generous storage areas at the back that taper off at the sides and narrow down to a small rim at the front. The gradation at the back gives the objects an air of great lightness. This effect is further enhanced by slightly chamfered outside contours and a shallow basin, which emphasise the bowl character of the wash stands. In the larger varieties the storage areas on the sides are emphasised proportionally stronger. This corresponds with the width of the overall object and thereby accentuates the interplay of large, compact with small, subtle components. The 120-cm wash stand has been designed first and foremost as a double wash unit. Rather eye-catching is the asymmetric 57-cm wide wash stand, where either the right or left-hand side offers generous space to deposit toiletries. It unfurls its exceptionally beautiful flair more than ever when it is combined with a corresponding piece. All other wash stands are wall-mounted models. The 60, 80 and 100-cm variations can also be combined with a pedestal whose shape harmonises with the design.
By way of matching the outside contours of the toilet and bidet variations with the wash stand design a holistic ceramics range of extraordinary harmony is being created. The 6-l toilets are available as wall-hung wash-out or wash-down variations. Unusual in these elements is the seating position, which is raised by 3 cm, making sitting down and getting back up easier. The toilets feature seats with soft-closing mechanisms. The outside surfaces of the toilet are totally smooth and therefore very easy-to-clean. These ceramics products are optionally available with the dirt-repellent surface finish “KeraTect”.
Furthermore, “Silk” comprises an extensive bathroom furniture programme. It consists of wash stand top panels in 60, 80, 100, 120 and 140 cm width in quality real “Oak” or real “Wenge Pangar” veneers with a surrounding, recessed screen in chrome appearance. Corresponding matching wall-mounted vanity units and side cabinets and tall cupboards are also available. The 140-cm wide element further offers the possibility of using an asymmetrically arranged, 60-cm wide cupboard unit as storage area, so that on one hand a contemporary arrangement is achieved and on the other hand a high degree of leg-room for usage while seated is created. For this type of use an upholstered stool on castors that can be adjusted to two different height settings, is available.
The wash stand vanity units can in addition to the above named real wood veneers also be ordered in “High-gloss White”. The side cabinets and tall cupboards can be swivelled and are fitted with shelves. The tall cupboard has a mirror on the inside door and a light panel.
Combined with the corresponding, high-quality bathroom furniture the series develops its high level of extra uses. For example, the wash stand top panels with a projection of 47 cm provide ample space to deposit various toiletry items. Through an optimal combination of towel holders – arranged at the sides or on the front screen – further comfort functions may be integrated.
An additional highlight represents the “Beauty Module” that can be fitted flush to the wash stand top panels, is available in the same look as the counters and also features the same surrounding screen. When lifting the top an integrated lit mirror appears. The lower part offers room for small make-up items and cosmetic wipes. Another, intelligent extra element is the toilet module which provides storage space for damp toilet wipes and a toilet roll holder. In addition, a storage tray made of the mineral material Varicor is on offer for the shower area. The accessory range is rounded off by an illuminated mirror element with chrome frame in the dimensions 44, 60, 80 and 120 cm. The 44-cm element features a light panel on the side. All other illuminated mirrors come with two lights fitted on either side, an anti-misting function and indirect coloured lighting at the top and the bottom.
An exclusive bathtub (200x90 cm) with covered overflow below an integrated cushion and panels in real wood veneer with integrated pull-out shelf, round off the programme. The product portfolio of affiliated company, Koralle Sanitärprodukte GmbH, offers also matching shower tubs and shower partitions in various dimensions.
